Resin-impregnated fiber tape for strength restoration of corroded and wall-loss piping

This is a repair method that restores the strength of corroded and thinned pipes using resin-impregnated glass and carbon fiber tape. We use partner products from CSNRI and Loctite.

Can pipe strength be recovered without cutting the pipe?

By wrapping resin-impregnated fiber tape, we restore strength in corroded, wall-loss, and dented sections and prevent further corrosion.

This is a non-welding, non-replacement partial repair method that involves circumferentially wrapping resin-impregnated glass or carbon fiber tape around damaged pipe sections in overlapping layers to distribute the load and restore strength. It is applied to industrial pipes with corrosion, wall loss, or dents, as well as complex shapes such as elbows, tees, and flanges.

What is the installation sequence?

The process proceeds in the following order: Surface preparation → Shape restoration → Multi-layer wrapping → Curing and recoating.

  • Surface preparation (rust and foreign matter removal)
  • Shape restoration with filler and putty on damaged areas
  • Multi-layer wrapping of resin-impregnated fiber tape with specified overlap
  • Recoating and backfilling after curing

What standards and products do we follow?

We adhere to international standards such as ISO 24817 and ASME PCC-2 Article 401, and use CSNRI and Loctite partner products.

The wrapping method adheres to international standards such as ISO 24817 (ISO/TS 24817), ASME PCC-2 Article 401, US CFR 192/195, and CSA Z662. HIGHCOATIC uses global partner products — notable examples include CSNRI A+ Wrap, DiamondWrap/Atlas, and Loctite PC 5085 Composite Wrapping Tape (combined with PC 7210/7211 resins).
